Adventures In The Middle Fork River
We had a very fun and exhausting day yesterday in Glacier National Park. We began our day with white water rafting down the Middle Fork River. Our raft included the whole Logan gang, a family of three from Idaho, and our hilarious guide Ben Wolf. The man from Idaho and Dad were the front paddlers. This meant that they would lead the rest of the rafting team in paddling...but they also got the wettest. It was very cold and windy when we were rafting- so the sun sure felt good when it came out. Thankfully, we had wet suits on, a splash jacket, booties, and big puffy life jackets. Our guide gave the option to all of us to jump in the freeeezingg water- Maggie was the only one crazy enough to do it. On the way home on the bus we played bus trivia on what our guides had taught us on the river. They asked a question from the safety talk and vann won! His prize was a huge ice-cream cone- which was very yummy! After we changed out of our wet suits into our warm clothes we traveled down the road to Glacier Grill for lunch- where we ran into some of our rafting buddies! That afternoon we went back into the park to hike the Trail of Cedars. Before heading to the trail we took a bathroom stop and got a wonderful view of Lake McDonald- it was incredible! During our hike we made a little stop by a creek where we climbed logs and trees to get in to the middle of the river. We were out there for a while but soon about twenty other people joined us so we left and continued our hike. Before going back to the Lodge we stopped at a Lodge inside the park called Lake McDonald Lodge...it was pretty cool. For dinner we ate at Cafe Kandahar. It was very fancy- almost too fancy. Sarah Hayden and I both tried escargot- I can't say we are the biggest fans. Other than that our food was very good! We got home pretty late last night so we all hopped into bed when we got home. This morning we finished packing and had a later breakfast. We have been on the road all day and have about three more hours till we reach Bozeman, Montana. Now we are stopped at the Iron Horse in Missoula for lunch. Well my food is here so I have to go, I'll post when we reach Bozeman! We are having so much fun!
